Brief Update

Friends...

Sis and Mum
Holiday is coming to an end. Three weeks passed by in a blink of eye. Well, this holiday is still considered a meaningful one, in which I had been to several places, eat a lot of delicious food, sleep for at least nine hours per day, watch TV drama until midnight, prepare for TOEFL when the mood was there, gather with friends and not to forget burn a big hole in my pocket.
Talking about the place, I went to Malacca and KL for two weekends respectively. Had talked a great deal about Malacca in the previous post. For the Kl trip, the main purpose was to visit my aunt whom we had not meet for one year. During the trip, we woke up at 6am for two days consecutively jut to pay a visit to the morning market. We ate dimsum, chee cheong fan, some desserts and titbits. There had been a long time I didnt have such a scrumptious breakfast. We spent the only afternoon shopping around and sis spent a lot on her stuff. My duty was just accompanying them without buying anything. Quite happy with it because I could control my addicition of shopping successfully.
Next the gathering with friends. It was so hard to gather with friends because all are busy with tests and didnt go back to hometown. But we were still able to gather in a small gang. Yu Xin is going to fly off in two weeks time. So we definitely didnt let off the chance to tease her. I was quite guilty when I found out that my friends usually sleep for less than 5hours one day. I was like increasing my sleeping time from 6hours to 7hours or even more. They study at midnight while I was entering REM stage....This would be our last gathering since more and more friends will fly soon. We wont able to take such a group photo again, because when YuXin comes back during summer holiday, Shi Hwee will have class in Australia. Wait for six more years to come. I am sure the next photo that we are going to take will include a few kids haha.
Despite such a long holiday, I was not able to get all the things done as I planned before this. Planned to cook dessert with aloe vera, apple and lemon but I was too lazy to go to the kitchen and work on it. Planned to ride on a motorbike but I was too lazy again to step out of the room. Planned to play badminton and bowling but I was too sleepy to concentrate on games. Planned to do more research on uni application but I didnt have the urge to switch on the computer. Woh there are a lot of plannings but what had i done at the end?I will try to get all these things done in the coming two months break.

Malacca Trip

The world is really small. It is quite a coincidence that my roommate, Kah Yee and Yu Xin’s roommate, Adeline are from the same school. In other words, two Muarians and two Ipohans study together in two different colleges. So we came out with the idea to have a trip at Muar. After much arrangement of accommodation and transportation, the two Ipohans, Kah Yee and Adeline reached Muar safely on Thursday night and our tour only began the next day.

For the first day, we brought them to eat around. It was interesting to find out that their fried carrot cake is different from ours which taste sweet instead of salty. Otak-otak and five smell were definitely on the must-try-food list. One disappointment was that they didn’t have the chance to eat fried oyster cake, Tanjongs’s rojak and fried shrimp noodles. Beside this, we were not able to bring them to Muar Tanjong due to time constraint. If we were able to make it successfully, I am sure they would enjoy the rejuvenating sea breeze, beautiful scenery and the exciting jungle walk to see monkeys. Hope there is another chance for them to witness the best scene in Muar with their naked eyes.

We devoted our Friday night to Malacca. Yu Xin’s dad brought us to Malacca for crab feast. We ate “salted egg” crab and curry crab. We were so full until ah Yee kept complaining about her unknown-reason-stomachache. Thanks to Yu Xin’s dad for such an awesome meal.

On Saturday, we had another trip to Malacca. I used to hang out at Mahkota Parade when I go to Malacca but never pay a visit to all the historical sites. This time, four of us went there as tourists who needed a map badly to tour around. We took a bus from Muar to Malaaca, and Shi Ying’s mum brought us to Baba Nyonya heritage museum. Thanks to her mum again for sending us =). We had a quick view of all the Baba Nyonya antiques and had our lunch at a Baba Nyonya restaurant. We visited several art galleries there too.

Adeline was resting at one of the Baba Nyonya Museum

Baba Nyonya otak-otak.It taste different from Muar otak-otak which is still the most authentic.

Pai Tee, some sort of vegetables inside the small cup.

Ayam Pongteh.I thought it is some kind of curry chicken but I am wrong totally. Cooked with "tao jiu"(hokkien).

Art gallery. One picture for around $ 300 to $ 10,000.Anyone?

Next, we headed to Dutch Square and Christ Church. A lot of local and foreign tourists were there since it was Saturday. Looking at all the magnificent red buildings, I tried to recall back the historical facts that I had memorized in secondary school. But I had serious memory retrieval problem and I wondered what is the point of memorizing all those facts=(

On the way to St.Paul Hill.

The two Ipohans wished to have a trishaw ride to A Famosa. Although the rate of 10bucks for such a short ride is quite expensive, it is really a great experience to have a trishaw ride, with the trishaw riders trying to overtake each other. We visited the St. Paul Church, the Dutch graveyard (it is suggested to go there at night for a thrilling trip haha), the Malacca Sultanate Palace, and the Maritime Museum as well.

Yu Xin and Adeline on trishaw.Leng lui with beautiful scenery.

It is A Famosa.

Maritime Museum, known as "Muzium Samudera" too.

Kah Yee, Adeline and I in front of the Christ Church.

In the evening, we had river cruise ride around Malacca River. Then, we had satay celup as our dinner. It turned out that there was a long queue outside the most famous shop, so we just tried the satay celup at the next shop. Our last station was the Jonker’s Street. Several people had reminded us to be aware of snatch thieves there. We watched the roadshow and ate some special delicacies. This marked the end of our one day trip at Malacca. Should try out the Menara Taming Sari next time.

Night view of Malacca.

Shud try the Menara Taming Sari next time.It is even more beautiful at night.
