Kuantan Trip-A Trip with Profuse Sweating

This is INOPE second trip and our destination this time is Jyo Lyn’s beloved hometown- Kuantan.

We carried out a lot of physical activities today until I developed phobia towards staircase. Woke up at 4am, we departed to Lembing- a dead town according to Jyo Lyn at 5pm. It took us about half an hour to reach there. Our first challenge was none other than conquering the Bukit Panorama. We didn’t bring any torchlight but luckily we met a lot of Samaritans who helped us along the journey. We were able to reach the top after 40minutes sthg and our first reward was the picturesque scenery and the breathtaking sight.

Finally, Luckily, and watever -ily, we arrived at the top of Gunung Panorama. No INOPE flag, so we just took the flag of the MCA. Notice the lady in blue shirts. She is one of the BN politician. What a coincidence.

Amazing sunrise. This sunrise was totally different from the one i saw on TV drama in which the round hot Sun rising slowly into the azure sky. This hiking had corrected my previous misperception.WooHoo

Our next destination was the hanging bridge and the Lembing Museum. The museum is awesome and we were exposed to all the stuffs related to mining, like the equipments and underground structure of mining site. Next, we went to Gua Charas. At first, we decided not to conquer the cave because the staircase is too steep but at the end, we were informed by the worker that there is another new route to the cave. The old route consists of 180 steps and the new route consists of 130 steps but we were required to pay 2bucks per person.

All the equipments and oxygen tank carried by mining workers. I just cant imagine how could they work with the heavy oxygen tank on their backs.

We had conquered Gua Charas. Profuse sweating again. How much calories we had burnt. All BTN food were digested successfully.

Next, we went to Panching waterfall. Too bad we didn’t bring any shirt and not able to play water there. How nice it would be if we could splash water at each other and at the same time eliminate the scorching heat.

The last destination before we headed home for a rest was 太上老君庙. The temple is famous for its longest dragon in the world. It was said that luck will be bestowed on people who have successfully finished the long journey from the tail to the head of the dragon. However, we were damn exhausted and not able to walk along the body of the dragon from the head to the tail. So we choose to take the shortcut instead. This temple is definitely a good place to take pictures and here are the pictures taken.

BTN Camp

Finally the BTN camp had ended officially. I just cannot imagine how could i go through the 5days without the accompany of handphone, laptop n music. But luckily, life was not that dreadful there, mainly because we had to carry out a lot of activities within one day like physical activities, group discussion and moral lecture. The eyelids were too heavy all the time and the body was too sluggish to move. People tried to make use of every single minute to sleep whenever there was a chance.
The camp was mainly divided into three parts, which are moral lecture and ceramah, kembara and PJK, as well as Latihan Dalam Kumpulan(LDK).

We had to wake up at 5.30am everyday to attend to the moral lecture which was held at the auditorium. Just look at the dim lightning, it was too perfect and comfortable for sleeping. The soft light lulled people to sleep and couldnt concentrate well on the interesting video. In short, whenever there were any talk/ceramah at the auditorium, I would take the opportunity to take a nap. It was so hard to resist the sleepiness.

After the morning session moral lecture, we headed towards the field for PJK. The activities that we had for the past few days were kawat kaki, physical test and lari 2km. It was quite rejuvenated after running for 2km and I had never been so health-conscious before this. Beside this, we had kembara on Wednesday evening. We passed by the Tanjung Rhu beach and narcissistic people like us never let go of the chance to take a photo. This was one of the reason that my group took the longest time to reach the destination. But the result was not important. The most important thing was our cooperation and determination to complete the task. Even if we had to pass by a lot of swamps which befouled our shirts and stung by mosquitoes inside the jungle, we had gained a lot of precious experience which hardly come by in life. Another challenging physical test is abseiling. I had overcame my phobia of height and my next target is to conquer the flying fox.

People were abseiling. The height is 50kaki(same with 50feet?). The stairs which lead us all the way to the top were damn steep. But once arriving at the top, we could enjoy a picturesque view of the sea and the blue blue sky. COOL

LDK was somehow boring but interesting. We had carried out a lot of activities during LDK like personality test, tic-tac-toe, drawing and the others. The facilitator was quite good and he did encourage us to give our opinions without having to think of the right and the wrong. Although we might feel sleepy during some session, but the food or high tea seem to be a strong incentive for us to keep ourselves awake. And i particularly enjoyed the time we prepared and practiced for the Persembahan Lagu Patriotik. MJ and Yin Wei came out with all sorts of funny and creative ideas. Although we did not win any prize at the end, but our performance had entertained the audience a lot. Outing 1

After one hectic week of preparation for the final examination, I was able to get a respite from the mundane life by having a trip to KL with Kah Yee, Fatt Chi and Justin. We took the KTM all the way to KL Central, followed by a public bus and here we were: One Utama.

It took us more than half an hour to reach One U by bus. This picture was taken when people like me was too bored and had nothing to do along the journey.

We foraged for food by using the directory but our intention failed to some extent when we couldnt decided on the food due to the variety of choices. Western food was our primary choice and after comparing the prices of Italian and American food, we decided to step into this shop named TGI Friday. But unfortunately it was a wrong choice indeed.

The unique interior design with some ancient stuff. It gives people a chance to reminisce about their childhood.

We were trying to cut down on budget by ordering one set meal respectively. The set meal which contains one main course and one appetizer worth RM29.90. The serving was extremely big for normal people like us and we had a deplorable moment trying to stuff everything inside our stomach.It seem like we pay a large sum of money to torture ourself. Just looked around, we discovered some people share the meal and stupid us never think of that. We thought the serving would be moderate and maybe we were just too desperate to try out exotic food. People start to grow ennui of the POTATO. And try to imagine how are we going to survive in US, whereby the potato is their staple food grain.

The most delicious appetizer among the three, clam chowder. It was kind of soup cooked with cm meat and POTATO. Super delicious.

Sizzling chicken with cheese. Look at the mashed potato behind the two pieces of meat. It was soft enough but at the same time it was tasteless enough.

After one and half an hour of marathon lunch or tea break, Kah Yee turned out to be the winner of this eating competition.She was the earliest to finish up her meal and even the two guys lost to her. Applause to u, Kah Yee.

Next, we headed for a movie by Jackie Chan, Sinjuku Incident. It was quite an aggressive movie with a lot of fighting and killing scenes. And after watching this movie, I just knew that it was very easy to kill people simply by calling his name. The fellow will turn around to take a look and it is the time for u to stab a knife into his stomach and fire a gun. The ways of killing seem to be too ridiculous to be accepted by audience. But afterall, it is quite a nice movie.

It Comes to An End

Finally it comes to the end of semester2. It was quite an unproductive semester due to the lack of updating of blog. Life was too hectic that tests and assignments kept flowing in. And sometimes effort is not necessarily equal to rewards. I would say it is quite unbelievable that I was able to strive throughout this stressful semester, in which I have to deal with the "life-threatening" Calculus 2 and the insipid Sociology. More disastrous and challenging subjects are still awaiting ahead of me. 

A brief summary of all the classes and lecturers here:
a) Macroeconomics 
    Miss Sheila is still very pretty and charming. I was like taking an aeroplane during her class     due to the fast teaching speed. According to her, Macroeconomics is much interesting and     challenging than Microeconomics.  But for me, it was really hard to understand and memorize     the macro facts compared to the micro. Roomie and I kept complaining while studying some     difficult topics. But happy to realize that our dates with economics will end officially after this     semester. A meaningful quote from Miss Sheila "The trees had been cut. You can't save it     anymore:. So don't ever try to squeeze all the answers for different questions on the same     page. Try to utilize as many paper as we can.

b) Accounting 
     Cannot comment much on this subject because too disappointed with the marks that we get      for our written assignment. And my confidence for this subjects was declining tremendously      after test 2 due to several careless mistakes. I know that the world does not come to an end      end even when I get low internal marks. But the most terrible thing is I had done some major      mistakes in final paper due to my inabality to adapt to the American system of writing dates.      I interpreted 7/1/05 as 7January but not 1July. Goodness me. Disappointed...

c) Calculus 2 
     This is the funniest class that I ever had at Inti. It was the only class that I can laugh as loud      as I want and crap as much as I wish. Previous this. I even thought of changing section just to      avoid Mr Chan's class. But I know I had made a wise decision by staying in Heartcount's class.      He  always creates a lot of laughters during the class by his mean of direct translation and cold      jokes. Some of the examples here:
     - "hands sour" means hand are tired.
     - "warm soft" means gentle
     - "old flower eyes" means presbyopia
     - "private run" means 私奔
     - "morning cannot talk about people"
     - "Waliu ei"
    He is the one who made me realize how interesting mathematics can be. The subject is not     that life-threatening anymore when people are taught by a good lecturer. And I think he had     just done a good job in helping me to pass this subject. Hope to see him in time to come.

d) Sociology 
     Wah this is the most dreadful and torturous subject whereby a lot of memorizing is required.      But students have their own advantages by taking this subject because they still can crap in      test even though they do not study for the test as long as they have a good command of      English. But sadly to tell that I am never the one who can crap. Marks are given based on the      length of the essays but not the quality. So non-JPA students sometimes get higher marks      than us because they are brave to express their own opinions during classes. Is it fair?Maybe.
     It was easy to fall asleep during Dr. Borges's class and is strict principles had freaked students      out. Handphones and food are strictly disallowed in his class. These are the reasons that s      students try to avoid taking subjects taught by him. The trial experience was both a      gruesome and meaningful one. It was gruesome because we had to devote a lot of time to the      discussion session. It was meaningful because can get know to many new      friends and all the      hard works had been paid off when we won the case.
